The Board of Managers will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, September 14, 2020 at 7:30 p.m.  This meeting will be conducted remotely, and there will be no in-person meeting attendance.

Public Participation: Participants who join via audio or video conference
will be muted except for members of the Board, Legal Counsel and staff.  Participants will be unmuted during periods of the meeting when public testimony is permitted.

Notice of Public Hearing & Possible Board Action

Resolution Calling for Congress and the National Park Service 
to Remove the Plaque and Inscription from the
Fountain in Chevy Chase Circle 
and Removal of the Memorial Dedication Honoring Francis G. Newlands
Monday, September 14, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. (virtual)

The Chevy Chase Village Board of Managers will hold a Public Hearing on Resolution No. 09-01-20 urging the National Park Service, United States Department of the Interior, to remove a plaque and inscription honoring Francis G. Newlands from the fountain within Chevy Chase Circle and calling for an Act of the Congress of the United States to remove the name of, and memorial dedication to, Francis G. Newlands from the fountain within Chevy Chase Circle.

Bicycle Stolen from Driveway Last Night Around 9:30 p.m

Home security video captured the thief in action

At about 9:30 p.m. Monday night (September 7), a homeowner in the 5500 block of Grove Street received a motion alert from the security camera in his driveway. When he checked the recording, he was surprised to see that a thief had brazenly walked deep into his driveway—past two cars parked there—grabbed a bicycle that was left very close to the front of the home, got on the bike and casually rode away with it.
The resident called the police and Village officer Drew Fones responded right away, but the thief had already made good his escape. The theft was over in a few short seconds.
Residents are urged to lock their homes and cars, and to secure bicycles and other valuable items inside whenever possible.
