Government
The Board of Managers carries out the corporate responsibilities outlined in the Village Charter. Copies of the Charter are available at the Village office and on the Village website. These include roadway maintenance, police protection, refuse and recycling services, issuance of building permits and similar functions. In addition, the Board is responsible for developing the Village budget and sets the Village real estate tax rate at the Annual Meeting held each April.
The Chevy Chase Village Board of Managers serve staggered 2-year terms and all members serve without pay. A candidate for the Board of Managers must be no less than 21 years of age, a resident of the Village for no less than 30 days, and a registered Maryland voter.
